How can I get my dog to lay on her blanket?
Question by danie_angel85: How can I get my dog to lay on her blanket?
Our family dog Callie is 12 years old. Ever since she was a puppy, we would bring her in the garage at night. Callie now has arthritis, so laying on the concrete, even with her blankets, makes it hard for her to get up in the cold mornings. We bought her a heated bed and put it under her favorite blanket, but she refuses to lay on it. Instead, she lays on the other blanket. We tried taking that one out, but she only moves to the door mat. We took away the door mat, but then she just lays on the ground. How in the world do we get her to lay on it? The only use it gets is from our three cats. I really wish that she would lay on it because it would help her and keep her warm. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If she is that bad and it is that cold, bring the poor thing in the house with you.

Callie may not be used to new things, and feels more comfortable with familiar things such as her favorite blanket. Try using treats to get her interested in the bed and slowly get her accomstomed to simply it’s presence. If she refuses to sleep on it, she may have a good reason, so don’t force her.
Have you tried over lapping the blankets? half and half so maybe she will feel the heat and hepefully like it enough to start laying on it
You should prabaly put food on the blanket. And tell her to lay down. If that doesn’t work lay on the blanket with her for a while. She should prabably fall asleep and then she will fell safe with it.
