Q&A: How could I help my dog?
Question by Amanda Me: How could I help my dog?
My dog is about 9 years old. He is overweight. He is a mix of a pitbull and black lab. He is in pain all the time just by moving from one place to another. We don’t over feed him. He has had a problem with his back legs, hip area for a long time. My parents say that he has arthritis. My parents haven’t called the vet and they are thinking about putting him down if he doesn’t get better. (and I really don’t ant that.) What would the vet say? (When I ask my parents about call him they say they just might put him down. :[ ) What would be good to give him for the pain? We give him K9 aspirin. Any other information you think I might have forgotten that you think would be a good idea please let me know. Thank you.
We can’t take him for walks. He is to strong and breaks the leash.
I keep telling my parents they need to call the vet but they seem to not want to listen to me. I really really time 345678 don’t want to put him down. He is sad but he still has an apatite. And when we sit with him and pet him he gets happy and wags his tail. I’m going to show my mom what everyone is saying and hopefully she will do something. So thank you. If anyone has anymore info or something let me know. Thank you.

Any chance you could take him to the vet where they can recommend a dietary dog food brand? He’ll lose weight if you walk him more too.
you can bend his joints slowly back and forth to make sure the undergo no more damage due to arthritis
my moms a vet but shes at work right now but ill ask her what you can do when she gets home & ill email you
:]
Give him the vitamin Glucosamine / Chondroitin. It is great for there joints. I started giving it to my Chow the last 2 years of his life. Really helped.
My dog will be nine in less than a week, and is healthier than ever.
A few weeks ago, my dog had the same problem, so we took her to the vet and he told us that she had a bruise all in her behind area, even her legs and her tail. So we put her on little pills, which we put in tiny hot dog bites, and she has gotten so much better. The pills made her bloated and have to pee alot, but she is starting to wag her tail and be herself again. So please take her to the vet. They really have an impact on your dogs health, thats why they’re there.
Go to the vet. They will probably say your dog should slim down, so he has less weight to carry. If there’s still a problem, there are some great medications they can sell you. My dog has arthritis and I give him pills for two weeks a month and they work wonders on him! He’s 11 and acts like a five year old now
I really don’t think aspirin will make any difference if he has so many problems with his joints. It’s cruel to leave him like this and not seek help from the vet.
Dog needs to lose weight put french green beans in with his dry food and reduce the amount of kibble.Being over weight causes more stress on the hips and back, your dog is old for his mix he is going to slow down try taking him for shorter walks but more frequently.Good Luck
the vet will go on for ages and end up saying put it down whilst trying to make as much money as possible
oh, he might have hip dysplasia. take him to the vet and they can try to correct the problem. it’s really common in big dogs. as for the weight problem, you should take him to a doggie pool and have him swim around for about 10-15 minutes every day,it burns off twice the amount of energy of just walking 15 minutes and it doesn’t put any pressure on their legs.
of course you would have to consult your vet about this first.
hope this helps!!
Sounds like ip dyspesia. Glucosamine with chondriton and a vitamin supplement will probably help.
Go to the vet maybe the vet can suggest an arthrites pill. Also what is good is Glucsomine which is good for joints. I do not think you should put him down if he happy and eating right. But when you see he is not eating and looks sad all the time then you know its time.
