Hello,
We are a 4 person family, with and 8 year old son who wants a dog that will Play fetch and run around with him. Also, we have an eleven year old daughter who wants a cute cuddly dog that will cuddle with her but will also walk in the park with her. I and my husband are 40 and got two dogs right after we got married name Sally and Casey. Sally was a Pure bred basset hound and casey was a beagle. Casey died in 05 with a cancerous tumor. Sally died of arthritis and old age in 2008. We have a medium size back yard and a two story house. We live in a medium sized town with houses close together. Our back yard has a fence that a dog any little than a medium sized beagle could eEscapefrom. We want a dog that doesn’t shed to much, ddoesn’tneed groomed very much, HAS MINIMUM health problems, and that will run around outside and live for at least 13 years. Please help me and name some dogs that r calm and medium sized. Please included pictures. Thanks Alot!!!

Question by meggiesue: canine 6yrs old, perfect health, blood & x-rays of stomach fine. symptoms drooling 3 weeks, larthargic, sad?
meggie is a very gentle and loving dog. Now acting
strangely sometimes aggressive. stomach seems tender upon touching and she growls when touch.
x-rays perfect, not even arthritis. blood drawn perfect. Slightly listless, tired looking and if was person would say pail, feces fine. No energy then sudden burst of aggression maybe once a week.
nothing new in home. Any idea? Vet put dog on rimadyl incase of hidden pain. But, would like answer to her anger situation as has attacked my smaller dog. Way, way, out of character for her.
Unbelieveable for her. I have had her 4 years, she is 6 now no aggression at all before. Must be medical reason. Please help me, i do not have
finances for exploritory testing cannine does not need. thank you

Did they test for tick borne diseases such as lyme disease? This can give unexplained episodes of aggression. My vet does a heartworm test that includes 2 tick borne illnesses. They test all dogs even though we live in the city and may never have observed a tick on our dogs (you never know when you might have missed one).

I am a single mid-20’s girl. I am purchasing my first house in a semi-nice neighboorhood, however there is still a little crime. I have owned dogs before so I am familiar with a lot of breeds.

What kind of dog would you suggest I get?
It must be protective, and eventually a good dog to have around children. I would like a dog with low maintence (brushing/grooming) I run daily so the dog will get plenty of exercise.
I would prefer a larger breed, however without medical problems (my rottweiler had hip dysplasia)
